What secrets about Texas History can be found by visiting a local cemetery?
What are the newest, and coolest apps for discovering the latest and greatest about Texas and its history?
What is a Texas Freedom Colony and what lessons can be learned from these independent settlements, founded throughout Texas right after the Civil War?
What impact did school segregation in Texas during the 20th century have on Texas High School football today?
"Cool Research - Unique Texas History Processes and Projects," a symposium for Texas History Educators and Enthusiasts, will answer these questions and many more about some of the most innovative research and history projects that are in progress throughout the state.
Workshop attendees will have an opportunity:
- To explore unique processes for studying and researching Texas History;
- To learn about interesting projects that are the result of these research methods and how they add to the base of knowledge of Texas’ history; and
- To develop strategies for translating these “processes and projects” to meaningful educational experiences for Texas History students and all life-long-learning Texas History enthusiasts.
In addition to learning about this "Cool Research," Educators will also receive guidance in developing TEKS-compliant lessons that may be utilized to enhance Texas History and Social Studies curricula at Middle and High School levels.
Educators will also earn a total of 10 CPE credits - 5 credits for the May 2 session, and 5 credits for the June 22 session. CPE credits are awarded through the TEA Region 5 Education Service Center.
